A GOLD PETORAL DISC
Named after the moon (bulan), these disc-shaped ornaments are associated with celestial bodies and are an important part of a warrior’s costume in most of Eastern Indonesia. In the Atoni regions, new mothers emerging from post-childbirth seclusion are adorned in a male warrior’s costume, symbolising their strength and life-giving powers.
